BABY, IT’S A VIOLENT WORLD
If it’s too good to be true, wait for the catch. Everyone would agree that 2009-2010 was tumblr’s glorious years. This was the era of excitement brought by the collision of the fameux, reblogueur, dogmatique chiennes, gloire whore, damn haïsseur, and anonymous bloggers. It was always an evening of dashboard trends and everyone’s like, looking for beauty in great chaos. Tumblr back then, was somehow, the dirtiest stage of tumblogging. We were pigs in one corral. We were little rascals running our own nation, setting our own rules, and not giving a single gram of f*ck to what the society will dictate. The ‘I’m a badass’ feeling was always there, and boy, it never left the mind of some of us.
This month, we will wrap up the year with lights out, no holiday feel, no positivity, walang ‘goodvibes (circa 2009), no feel good issue. Here’s to the kids, who just landed on tumblr thinking it’s a candyland with cotton candy clouds, lollipop flowers in the meadow, candy butterflies, and a baby-faced sun. Here’s to the kids who want to look back at the dark side. All the anonimity, profanity, pornography, vanity, bashing, posers, haters, copy cats boiling down to one issue.
For this issue, Dexter Torres (@dexterdeterminado) and Maikhoben Franco (@maikhofranco) will take us to our dark past, a ghost that still haunts us up to present, minus the fun and excitement that drives our hunger for tumblr. An issue that will remind us that we were atleast one among those guilty tumblr sinners who committed these dirty cyber crimes.
For our second year ender issue, we give you @batangbonakid and his take on the seven deadly sins, the controversial Sin tax bill, the feisty return of Pinoy sexy films with Direk Erik Matti’s ‘Rigodon,’ and the shady music of Ellie Goulding.
And for our tumblr mag exclusive, we give the spotlight to one of tumblr Philippines’ most adored yet one of the most talked about blogger then and even now, Henzel Gapay, her take on popularity, haters, and her quote unquote, rumored death.
For tumblr magazine, 2012 was a year of embracing changes and pushing ourselves to the limit. As we strive to grow and become a better blog-gazine that taps the interest of every tumblrista, we thank you for all your support and appreciation. There may be no light at the end of the tunnel for tumblr mag this year, but next thing you know, we’re off to greater heights next year.
Embrace the Dark Issue :D
